2009 Artist Fellows Announced

Bush Artist Program Chooses 39 Fellowship Finalists

Dakota Creative Connections - Program Description

The application deadline for the 2009 Dakota Creative Connections has passed. The deadline date for all categories was April 24, 2009. Recipients will be announced in July 2009.

Dakota Creative Connections Overview

Designed in collaboration with artists living in North Dakota and South Dakota, this initiative provides Dakota–based artists with project grants ranging from $3,000 to $6,000 combined with professional development activities and artist convenings.

Approximately 8 to 12 grants will be awarded each year.

The DCC program is intended to help Dakota-based artists develop new ideas and directions for specific projects. Artists working in all disciplines are eligible for support—categories alternate on a bi-annual basis. Funding may be used for travel, study and research, artist residencies and retreats, equipment and materials, and short-term projects.

Artists may be at any stage of their life’s work from early to mature.

Dakota Creative Connections Eligibility

We welcome applications from qualified artists who:

  • are residents of North or South Dakota, and are U.S. citizens or permanent residents.
  • have lived in North Dakota or South Dakota for at least 24 months immediately prior to the application deadline.
  • are at least 21 years old on the application deadline.

You are not eligible to apply if you are:

  • a student enrolled full time in a degree-granting program after July 1, 2009.
  • a current recipient of funding from the Bush Artist Program.

Former Bush Artist Fellowship recipients may apply only if they have submitted a final report.
