Enduring Vision Awards - Program Description

Description

Each year, up to three mature artists who have at least 25 years of experience as working artists and who are residents of Minnesota, North Dakota or South Dakota, will each receive $100,000 to be distributed over a three- to five-year period.

These Awards are designed to propel the artistic investigations of mature artists and to encourage their continued influence on present and future generations of artists, audiences and the artist’s field of work. Through this program, recipients will have the opportunity, for example:

  • to plan work over several years.
  • to turn down commissions in order to pursue personal investigations and stay fresh in their knowledge and work.
  • to work on documenting and archiving their work.
  • to experiment with new ideas and learn new skills.

Enduring Vision Awards Eligibility

A group of selected artists and cultural leaders will nominate qualified artists who:

  • are residents of our funding region: Minnesota, North Dakota or South Dakota, and are U.S. citizens or permanent residents.
  • have lived in our funding region at least 24 months immediately prior to the application deadline.
  • can demonstrate at least 25 years of work as an artist in one or more artistic disciplines (please count adult years only).

The nominee is not eligible to be considered for the awards if he/she is:

  • a current recipient of a Bush Artist Fellowship.
  • a former Enduring Vision Awards recipient.

One- and two-time Bush Artist Fellowship recipients may be nominated.

Enduring Vision Award recipients will not be eligible to receive future support from the Bush Artist Program.
